We've all been there. You're enjoying a delicious meal when suddenly you feel ill. Your stomach starts churning, your head starts to spin, and on top of all, there's no toilet in sight. Food poisoning is a common condition that causes symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, and nausea after eating food or drinking water. The food or drink contains bacteria or toxins that your body isn't used to dealing with. It usually happens when you don't wash your hands after using the bathroom or eating raw meat products such as chicken or beef. Foods that are most likely to cause food poisoning include fish; shellfish; cheese made from unpasteurized milk; meat/poultry kept at room temperature for over two hours before cooking; eggs kept at room temperature for over twenty-four hours before cooking them (or even longer if they were refrigerated).
